I wanted to post this before 1.04 came out, so I hope it still timely. Diablo 2 is a really old game, and I think some diablo 3 items people wax nostalgic through some very rosy glasses. First of all, the maker of Evony Online, Eric Lam, is a Chinese businessman who is associated with a gold farming business. He's been sued by Microsoft in the past. He earns an insane amount of money from just this. Now he's created this Evony MMO, where you have to pay to get practically everything. And this is just the beginning of the shadiness.

Allods is a potentially great game, sadly it is trapped under the weight of its own cash shop. Had the developers stuck to diablo 3 ros items their original promise of keeping the game free of the buy to win, or even the buy to play model, then Allods could have easily rose to one of the most successful free to play games on the market. Unfortunately somewhere along the line the powers that be saw the potential to make a quick buck, and players got stuck with the bill. After a short time playing it becomes apparent this expansion was less about adding content for the players to enjoy, and more about adding content as a way to distract players from the sweeping changes to the game play mechanics in order to better serve the cash shop.

Prime example is what took place with with BioWare this year (To us gamers, quickly becoming FailWare). Between 2 major releases in the last 6 months (Star Wars : Old Republic / Mass Effect 3) The company shelled out allot in development costs (150 200 million on Star Wars alone, making it the most expensive video game ever developed), voice acting, marketing, and the company's reputation. While both titles are far from what anyone would call a failure(s). They sure didn't create the splash expected. Mass Effect 3 turned off alot of angry fans to the company's title roster for good (Poor story writing, and rushed production process, worst ending ever!). Star Wars : The Old Republic diablo 3 legendary items left players feeling the deja vu effect of Blizzard's flagship title (WoW, in space. with sabers. and voices. wooh.). The company has lost a large amount of respect. Ignoring their consumers will cost them in the long run. Considering Dragon Age 3 is not far off. Many consumers might sit that one out to avoid the disappointment.
